AI Policy
This project has published four policy briefs that together provide a comprehensive and evidence-based understanding of the evolving AI landscape in India. The briefs examines the institutional, economic, geographic, and infrastructural dimensions of AI development, with the aim of informing understanding of emerging trends, national capacities, and key policy priorities.
The methodology adopted for the brief combines secondary research, indicator-based assessment, and comparative analysis. The study drew on official government documents, the union budget, central and state ministry documents, and industry reports. It also used data platforms such as Clarivate (Web of Science), Tracxn and other public databases to analyse startup activity, investment patterns, research and innovation trends, and infrastructure capacity. The findings were then synthesised through a thematic analytical framework to identify major patterns, gaps, and emerging priorities shaping AI development in India.
