Kunal Thakur is a Policy Analyst with the Centre for Society and Policy at the Indian Institute of Science. He is also associated with the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India - Policy Analytics and Insights Unit. He holds a postgraduate degree in Public Policy and Governance from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Delhi.

He is engaged in research related to data governance, privacy, and artificial intelligence. His interests also include science and technology diplomacy, as well as the policy and governance aspects of emerging technologies.
