Blockchain was first introduced to facilitate Bitcoin, a virtual currency constructed using cryptographic principles and conceived by the proof of work mechanism in a distributed and decentralised environment hence, also called cryptocurrency Bitcoin’s mysterious inventor Nakamoto delivered the process of moving money virtually that was previously impossible This ability of Bitcoin made it one of a kind and introduced a new branch of technology.

On 25 February 2021 the Government of India announced wide ranging changes to its regulatory mechanisms for governing online speech These changes, made as to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 substantially alter the framework for the regulation of online platforms as well as all manner of online media and content This talk will examine and critically interrogate the framework introduced under the new IT Rules, tracing their conceptual origins and their impact on constitutional rights including the freedom of press and the right to privacy

This panel discussion will explore the economic, policy, legal, regulatory, standardization issues involved in using public data to generate public good. The data under consideration includes IOT data from smart city sensors, video data from surveillance cameras, legal and property records, data from cellular providers and similar. The Economist has (somewhat optimistically) estimated that this data will generate 1.7T$ of economic value by 2025. This panel discussion will examine the issues that are pertinent to making this claim a reality.
