Sruthi Kalyani is a Policy Fellow with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in the Policy Analytics and Insights Unit. She holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where her research examined the policies and institutional actors shaping China’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
Her research interests include emerging technologies in international affairs, technology governance and human rights, and Science and Technology Studies in Asian contexts. Her work has engaged with issues of technological sovereignty, cyber and AI governance, and the strategic implications of dual-use technologies. Before transitioning to technology policy, she worked in the fintech sector, specialising in business intelligence and data analytics.
